Peter McShane

Consultant

Commercial Property

Peter is a consultant in the commercial property and private client department. He qualified as a solicitor in Ireland in 1987. Peter has carved a niche private client practice representing high net worth individuals across a broad spectrum of sectors including residential developers, landlords, publicans and medical and dental professionals.

His private client work is both contentious and non-contentious. His contentious work involves landlord and tenant disputes, real estate planning disputes, complex liquor licensing applications, defamation actions, product liability and personal injury claims, inquests and representation before Tribunals of Inquiry. Peter’s non-contentious work centers primarily on probate and estate planning including succession planning for family businesses and undertaking residential and commercial conveyancing transactions.

Recent work highlights include advising AIG in a novel recovery action that secured an order against a pension fund yielding almost a complete recovery of the sums paid out on the insured’s claim, successful representation of FBD Insurance in the leading Supreme Court case of Crilly v TJ Farrington Ltd [2001], and successful representation of the claimant in a leading case relating to the disinheritance provisions of the Succession Act 1965.

Peter has acted in many of the record-breaking residential property purchases and sales over several years.
